We are pleased to present this year’s workshop of the Sounds of Veritas Festival - “Ritual of Movement: Dances of the Traditional Countryside”, led by Iga Kałużka.

This is a gathering that combines specific dance forms with what is invisible within them, yet always present: ritual, community and the experience of being in movement. Workshop participants will focus primarily on practice: learning the basics of the oberek and kujawiak, as well as simple dance forms derived from traditional rural festivities, including those associated with Kupala Night.

An important element will be working with rhythm, spinning, partner dancing and group movement in order to fully experience these forms in the body, rather than only hearing about them. The workshop also shows where their strength comes from: how repetitive rhythm, contact with another person, and shared circular movement built a sense of community and created an experience that goes beyond ordinary entertainment.

This is an open offer for everyone, regardless of dance experience. It is a space where you can move, relax, laugh and at the same time touch something older, rooted in tradition and bodily memory.

The workshop will be led by Iga Kałużka, a dancer connected with Polish folk dance from an early age, representing the “Długołęka” Folk Dance Ensemble. For her, dance is a natural part of life and a space of returning to oneself, while also being an area where she combines movement experience with an interest in psychology.

For several years she has been conducting workshops and sharing her passion during school classes and public events, showing that folk dance can be accessible and engaging. As she emphasizes, it is especially important for her to combine work with the body, emotions and relationships with others so that movement becomes a form of presence and encounter.
