During another workshop at the Wrocławskie Centrum Opieki i Wychowania (WCOW), the children had the opportunity to take an even closer look at nature and discover what can be found in the garden. Agata Pajtasz, who led the workshop, brought along a piece of honeycomb straight from the apiary. The children carefully examined it, smelled it, touched it and discovered just how sticky it was. It was a small lesson about bees and the work that goes into producing what eventually finds its way onto our tables.

There was also time to collect some of the garden’s harvest. The children enjoyed fresh wild strawberries and picked cucumbers, pumpkins and zucchinis. But it was the mint that sparked the most excitement, everyone wanted to smell it and see just how intense its aroma was. The girls collected a whole lot of it, planning to add it to their tea or water later.

The children also had a lot of fun building shelters together. The boys enthusiastically collected branches lying nearby and then prepared stakes to which they could attach the structures. The girls, meanwhile, took care of the decorations, threading beads onto strings to adorn the newly built shelters.

The workshop showed just how much there is to discover when we take the time to slow down, observe nature and work together. There was room for curiosity, play, creativity and, above all, simply spending time together.
